Hello everyone!
I am sad to say that the servers have indeed been lagging a lot more recently due to unknown causes. I have disabled replays to test a theory to see if it helps, since servers were spiking well over 100% CPU usage (This is only done through Multithreading, so replay was quite obviously part of the cause). If they are causing this I will leave them disabled until and only if there is an update released which fixes this problem.
If you still wish to record your play time on ProbablyAServer (automatically, even), we suggest using PoV-Record (http://etf2l.org/forum/customise/topic-6647/page-1/) and setting prec_mode to '3' to record all , or, to record it manually keep the setting the way it is possible to use the command 'prec_record', which will record a demo with the timestamp, team names and map.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, however it is a needed change to see if it is possible to solve any problems.
Hello everyone!
As you all should know by now, Team Fortress 2 is scheduled to convert over to SteamPipe at 5:00 PM EST today (4/30/2013, it is currently 4:45 PM). Until this conversion takes place servers which were not filled earlier on in the day are not online. Payload is the only server converted so far (With the exception that it needs to be restarted later on when the official sourcemod update comes out, however it looks like this is the current version), however it is missing the thirdperson plugin, and the updated servers will also be missing it until it is rewritten later on in the day.
Servers currently offline are: Match, and Lobby
Servers which need to go offline later in the day: Dustbowl
Servers ready to go: Payload, Attack/Defend, CTF, Rotation, and Nocrit
Each conversion takes maybe 10 minutes and will likely cause server lag during the file copying process. Please do not complain about it as there is nothing that can be done to reduce lag during this time.
If you notice any plugins other than third person or spray trace missing, please let me know ASAP.
|past| Dr. Fübar has been generous enough to enact an item raffle for all you ProbablyAServer players! Head on over to the forum post ( http://probablyaserver.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=262 ) to grab yourself a personal key and sign up to win some goodies!
P.S. Don't forget to thank Fubar while you're at it.
UPDATE: All servers are back online and fixed.
The latest TF2 Update broke Linux plugin loading (Used for Metamod: Source and through that Sourcemod), Valve released a patch for it about an hour ago and it has been applied to the servers, however it may require a restart to take effect on the servers.
During this time Chat Tags, Donators, Admin Chat, Reserved Slots, Voice Spam etc will not be loaded.
The servers are currently running vanilla except for the Match and Lobby server which require them for basic use. Those two servers, along with nocrit, have been restarted.
Exciting stuff, I know! Now, for those of you interested, a Steam group has been created for all of those volunteers that assist in filling the PAS servers; with this, simply join up and wait for announcements to state when and where someone is filling!

P.S. For those who are unaware of what "filling" is, it refers to the joining of a server to raise the player count. With TF2's Quickplay feature, only servers with about 12 players and above will be available for connection. Thus, once enough players are on said server due to fillers joining, Quickplay handles the rest.
